Technologie pro revoluci. Ceska avantgarda v tisku (“Technology for Revolution: The Czech Avant-Garde in Print”) was written by Meghan Forbes and published by Karolinum Press. The book presents a cultural history of print devoted to Devětsil, the most influential avant-garde group in interwar Czechoslovakia. The book design by Štěpán Marko features Clin by Heavyweight, an American grotesk used for the cover, titles and captions. Rhymes by Maxitype is used for the running text.

The book charts leftist art practices in interwar Czechoslovakia and the group’s networks of exchange across Europe, and reads Poetism as an attempt to reconcile new technology with the role of poets and artists in a postwar society. It is the result of nearly a decade of research in the libraries and archives of Prague, Berlin, Paris and New York, and is conceived as an exhibition space in print: an object-based analysis of architecture, typography, poetry, photography, film and performance.

Paperback, 503 pages, 170×240 mm. ISBN 9788024660509.
