The Wacky World of Tex Avery is a French-American slapstick comedy television series created by Robby London, and produced by DIC Entertainment in 1997. The goal was to pay homage to Tex Avery’s classic cartoons for Warner Bros. and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer after DIC had purchased the name and likeness of the cartoonist.
His daughter, Nancy Avery, wanted the money to send her kids to college, but the animators admit they hated working on the show. The series was remembered as one of the worst cartoons of all time, and was seen as a direct insult to Tex Avery’s legacy.
The main font used for the show was Whimsy Heavy, designed by Patricia Lillie for ICG.
