In 1968, Liberty Records released a compilation with 14 songs by the likes of Fats Domino, Eddie Cochran, and Larry Williams. For the album cover, Peter Penner drew the title in extruded caps that appear to be based on PLINC’s Halloween, minus the extra contour lines. Halloween in turn was adopted from an alphabet drawn by A. Bardi and reproduced under the name La Boule in a French source book published in 1931.

A second volume of This is Rock n’ Roll followed a year later, released on Liberty and also on Minit. It uses the same title treatment, again with Permanent Headline for the artist names.
