The campaign is built around the idea that no two hikes are the same. Every person moves through the landscape differently, shaped by individual decisions, unexpected encounters, and moments unique to their experience. Rather than presenting hiking as a singular activity, we developed an identity system that translates this variation into a repeatable set of rules capable of producing a broad range of outcomes.
Since no single layout could hold that range, typography became the mechanism for it. A custom generator arranges words into compositions that resemble hiking paths, with each layout forming a different route through the page. Rather than producing fixed assets, the tool defines a procedure for generating new taglines and compositions.
To broaden the definition of what constitutes a hike, we extended the identity system into the campaign’s art direction. Context-specific taglines are paired with imagery spanning expansive landscapes and everyday moments. The system carries from outdoor advertising and trail signage to a hiking passport with custom trail stamps, flags, and bumper stickers.
