Gather by chef Chris Viaud is an elegantly designed cookbook centered on seasonal recipes and the experience of bringing people together around food. Published by Cider Mill Press, it features photography by Viaud’s brother, Phil Viaud.

Richard Lipton’s Meno Display and Meno Text, from Lipton Letter Design, take the lead, giving the book much of its character starting with the understated cover and prominent recipe titles. They are paired with the Latin portion of Poppins, designed by Jonny Pinhorn for Indian Type Foundry.

The three families are used with restraint, creating clear shifts in hierarchy while maintaining the cookbook’s warm, refined character.
