Tereza Bettinardi Studio was invited by WMF Martins Fontes in 2022 to design a series of covers for bell hooks’ books translated into Brazilian Portuguese. VTC Ruben, designed by Tré Seals, forms the typographic backbone of the collection. Its assertive, condensed forms and political resonance establish a strong and recognizable voice across the series. Wigrum is paired with it for decks, subheads, and other supporting text, creating contrast and helping structure the different levels of information.

The typographic system is combined with artworks by Black Brazilian artists Kika de Carvalho and Mulambö, whose images add further layers of meaning and interpretation to Hooks’ legacy.
