Based in Nîmes, Théâtre Le Périscope describes itself as “a living arts factory, a multidisciplinary scene in urban roaming”. Under the new direction of Antonin Beaury, the theater seeks to renew itself and affirm its values of commitment that are embodied by the links with the territory and the various Nîmes partners, through a ‘traveling’ theater model.
In tribute to Marcel Jacno’s designs for the Théâtre National Populaire, designer Manon Couëslan (Bureau Trouble) wanted a graphic design that takes up the protest codes of political messages in urban space, helped by Anna Khorash’s Invert typeface, using its Black style throughout. The arrows reflect the need to point toward the theater and culture, and serve as a universal benchmark to ‘arrow’ the route designed by the theater in partnership with various Nîmes structures throughout the season.
Invert is paired with Graphik by Christian Schwartz, and the pre-existing theater logo is set in Baste by Image Format.
