This comprehensive compilation of stories by Franz Kafka (1883–1924) was edited by Paul Raabe (1927–2013) and published by Fischer in 1970.
The paperback cover is exclusively typographic, featuring Longfellow for the author’s name. This typeface with elongated proportions originated in Philadelphia in 1897. In 1970s West Germany, two phototype versions were available under the names Berolina (by Fürst) and Zobel (by Typeshop): judging from letterform details like the wide n and the z with hook, this is Berolina. Secondary text is set in tightly spaced Lightline Gothic.
