Perunggu is an alternative rock band from Indonesia. They recently completed their PDD Tour, short for Pertunjukan Dalam Dinamika, which included performances in Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Bandung.

Under the Table designed the tour graphics and merchandise using my typeface Slight Chance. Supporting text was set in Biz UDMincho, designed by Type Bank Co. and Morisawa Inc. Photography of the tour was taken by Said Nugroho.

Ahmad Rizzali of Under the Table tells the story best:

It was exactly a year ago when I was browsing Fonts In Use for inspiration. One thing led to another, and I eventually stumbled upon your article about Slight Chance here. The moment I opened the page, my immediate thought was, “This is it. This is the font.”

I started experimenting with the trial version and presented it to the band, and they instantly connected with it. What I love about Slight Chance is how closely it aligns with the identity we were trying to build for the campaign. The project revolves around the idea of transition, and the typeface captures that feeling beautifully. It feels worn, asymmetric yet somehow balanced, bold, and imperfect—all qualities that resonated with the direction of the work.

The tour’s identity is centered around the themes of time, erosion, and repetition, and is reflected not only in the graphics that appear onstage, but also in the apparel, banners, and merch out in the audience.

The logo is an encircled P (similar to a Phonograph symbol) that is rendered in three styles, representing the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age. This pairs perfectly with Slight Chance, which is is inspired by the decay of cable transmissions and CRT TVs, and features soft, rounded counterforms juxtaposed with angular exterior shapes. As the font’s designer, it is truly wild for me to see this juxtaposition of soft and angular forms play out at a massive scale in the logo behind Perunggu’s drummer.
