Montréal 1976 : une épreuve olympique / An Olympic Feat is a temporary exhibition at the Musée McCord Stewart, Montréal (15 May – 7 September 2026), marking the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Summer Olympics.
The campaign, designed by Principal Studio, draws directly from the visual language of the Games: a bold, saturated red palette, archival photography collaged freely across the layout, and compositions that evoke the energy of sports print ephemera from the era. The identity sits somewhere between a period document and a contemporary reinterpretation, reflecting an event the museum describes as a rare case where design, culture, architecture, and sport formed a coherent and indissociable whole.
The typeface used throughout is Arch Compressed from Edito, whose condensed, muscular forms carry the urgency and scale of 1970s display typography without directly quoting the original 1976 identity. Set at large sizes across: posters, exhibition walls, banners, and press materials.
