Encontro da Imagem is a Portuguese festival dedicated to photography and visual arts. The 35th edition took place in September to November 2025.
The identity of this edition was created by Porto based graphic design studio Atelier d'alves. They distillate a system made of black typography, light grey background, colourful boxes of different shapes, and borders and rulers to give structure to it all. The end result evokes a twist on wood type posters.
Atelier d'alves makes a prolific use from the type series NaN Rage using four of its subfamilies (mostly) in their condensed widths throughout the identity. A slab serif, a sans, a rounded sans an a curveless sans participate to this subtle polyphony where the change of style can almost go unnoticed.
