In the book Perspektīvas. Sievietes Latvijas kultūrā un sabiedrībā 1870–194 ("Perspectives. Women in Latvian Culture and Society, 1870–1940"), the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art of the University of Latvia presents a collective monograph that uncovers overlooked narratives of women’s contributions to Latvia’s cultural and social history. Through biographical, interdisciplinary, and intersectional perspectives, the volume explores how women from diverse social and ethnic backgrounds shaped cultural life, public space, and the emergence of a democratic society.
The softcover edition features portraits of women on its outer jacket, while beneath it unfolds a complete constellation of names — a layer of recognition and remembrance.
