Catalog for Nosso Norte é o Sul / Our North is the South, an exhibition presented by Bergamin & Gomide in partnership with Tiago Mesquita and Paul Hughes Fine Arts in São Paulo, from August to October 2021. The show placed a collection of pre-Columbian textiles produced by the Huari, Nazca, and Inca cultures in dialog with a selection of works by modern Latin American artists, building its curatorial argument around formal, geometric, and relational points of contact between art and craft in the region.
The catalog’s design mirrors this dialog in its structure. Bilingual texts (Portuguese and English) run in tangent column blocks throughout the book, letting the two languages sit side by side rather than one following the other. Reproductions vary in scale and format: the large-format pre-Columbian textiles are shown on fold-out pages, giving them room to unfold at a scale closer to their physical presence, while modern works are reproduced within the standard page grid.
The cover is bound in red fabric finished with white screen-printing.
