François Monchâtre, créateur singulier ("François Monchâtre, a singular creator") is a monograph on painter, sculptor, ingenious builder François Monchâtre, an unclassifiable artist, a genuine heir to surrealism. His dream machines made of wood, lead, and mirrors, his OPNI and his « Crétins » (stereotyped characters in suits and ties moving through sanitized worlds) reflect a gaze on society that is both poetic and biting. His work oscillates between two poles: the poetic vein of his fascinating, logical, surrealist machines, which serve no purpose other than to make us dream, and a more aggressive, sharp, satirical tendency.

Part of this rich and varied body of work is brought together in a 200-page, hardcover, full color publication.
