Footnotes issue F: front cover

Footnotes is a type design periodical published biennially by La Police. The sixth issue begins with an article by Sophie Wietlisbach on typewriter typefaces in Switzerland under the lens of forensic science, where the infamous Haas Atlas turns out to be a type specimen.
For the second article, entitled “For the records #1”, six people (Francis Baudevin, Selina Bernet, Raffael Dörig, Florian Hardwig, Maud Pollien, Quentin Schmerber) were invited to pick four covers each, and write about them from a typographic perspective. A series of drawings with extensive captions, sprinkled around the main text, explains how a record is made.
If you enjoy stencil type, you should visit Venice in Italy as every street corner displays such letters in an elegant painted frame. Adrien Vasquez went and documented it. This defining vernacular piece of lettering is central to the graphic identity for Common Ground, the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2012, by John Morgan studio in 2012.
The fourth and last article, by amateur-researcher Olivier Lebrun starts with Jean Crampilh-Broucaret's labour of faith and sweat, ending up in every nook and cranny where holes can be experienced.
To wrap up issue F, the traditional last page entitled Proofs showcases in-progress typefaces from the contributors and acquaintances: Metronorm with Mono (Sophie Wietlisbach), Astra (Laurenz Brunner), Multitudes (Atelier Carvalho Bernau), UBW and Neuzeit Insertio (Mathieu Christe), Delia FSL and Selene FSL (Pierre Pané-Farré), Petite Planète (Adrien Vasquez).
As with every issue, each article is typeset with the related typeface(s), some in-progress and unreleased. The same goes for the committed iconography, nuggets for the eyes.
