Art Field Nanhai Guangdong is a large-scale land art festival held in the Nanhai District, Foshan, within China’s Greater Bay Area. Inspired by Japan’s renowned Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale, the biennial event transforms villages, waterways, historic sites, and rural landscapes into exhibition spaces for site-specific contemporary art. The 2024 edition, themed “Be Like Water”, featured 95 projects and over 200 artworks by nearly 200 artists from more than 30 countries and regions, exploring the relationship between water, local culture, ecology, and community life.
For the visual identity and editorial materials of the 2024 festival, Chinese design studio 3type (art director Li Zhiqian and designer Liang Zhuoyi) developed a comprehensive wayfinding and publication system including signage, a guidebook, and an art passport. The project combines Heading Now by Zetafonts with Glow Sans SC, an open-source Chinese typeface derived from Source Han Sans.
