Slashdot (often abbreviated “/.”) is a major U.S. website with news, discussions and blogs around Linux, free software, open content, copyright, software patents, astronomy and more. Slashdot was founded by Rob Malda, also known as “CmdrTaco”, and classmate Jeff Bates, also known as “Hemos”.

The Slashdot logo has been using Koloss since the launch in October 1997. The logo initially included the “.org” domain ending.
