The Elder Gods, the latest EP by London-based electronic artist Paul Hierophant, features AL Kunsthalle, a typeface whose forms and geometric construction draw on engraved Roman capitals. Released by Gated Recordings, the record moves between electro, techno, ambient, and dub, subtly invoking a world of primordial deities and mythological figures through track titles such as “Titan”, “The Hydra”, and “Works and Days”.

Drawing on the earliest Roman monumental forms of the Latin alphabet, AL Kunsthalle balances delicacy with a sense of strength. Its quiet but monumental presence naturally complements the record’s dialogue with antiquity, evoking a world of ancient myths.
