brightdeathstarr is the final album by Ukrainian shoegaze project plaaaato. The visual identity, art direction, and physical release design were developed by Andrij Smirnov.

The visual approach was informed directly by the music itself. The lyric layouts are not intended to be read in a conventional way – instead, they form spiraling compositions that mirror the movement and density of the album’s layered sound, allowing individual tracks to connect as parts of a larger whole. As in shoegaze tradition, the voice is not placed at the forefront but becomes one element within the broader sonic landscape, and the typography reflects this by dissolving into composition rather than demanding to be read linearly.

Design by Andrij Smirnov, visual direction by Sofiia-Anna Hrushko, with typeface KTF Prima (Kyiv Type Foundry).
