Nodes. Journal of Art and Neuroscience is a peer-reviewed scientific journal founded in 2011 by Numero Cromatico – an artist, research centre and publisher formed by researchers from the humanities and science. The journal aims at narrating and promoting the combination of art and neuroscience, a topic that has become very famous in recent years owing to the emergence of neuroaesthetics. The journal has now become the breeding ground for a new vision of artistic research, one that promotes the use of the scientific approach in various artistic disciplines, ranging from visual arts, literature, cinema, architecture, music and design. At the same time, Nodes is a forum to discuss the most current aesthetic and neuroscientific theories on the fruition of art, with the intention – in a broader sense – to explore, study and deepen the mechanisms of human functioning.
Thanks to this attitude, Nodes has also turned into a tool for collaboration among artists and scientists of international importance – including Nobel laureates and researchers from universities worldwide – promoting the circularity of knowledge and also functioning as a platform for possible developments in international artistic and scientific research.
Nodes publishes unpublished texts, in particular: research papers, reviews, analytical essays, interviews and special issues on relevant topics in contemporary debate that have an interdisciplinary approach and take into account the latest evidence within the field of experimental aesthetics, neuroaesthetics and neuroscience more generally.
At present, Nodes is the only Italian journal specializing in this field, and has therefore become a reference for experts in the field, but also for scholars in related disciplines, students, as well as nonexperts, both nationally and internationally.
Nodes is classified as a scientific class A journal for area 11/C4 by the National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes (ANVUR) for the purpose of National Scientific Habilitation.
