For its first issue, New Book brings together ten artists and creatives around the theme of “creative resilience.” Designed by Axel Peemöller and Rita Matos from New Studio, the publication adopts a clear, spacious layout in a large 33×23.5 cm (13×9.25 in) format, spread across 152 pages. Printed as a limited edition of 350 copies, the book feels both intimate and carefully crafted, giving equal importance to interviews and visuals while letting the contributors’ voices lead the way.

The use of Dean Gothic, recently released by Blaze Type, gives the project a clean and contemporary identity. The typeface is simple, sharp, and confident, structuring titles and editorial sections without overwhelming the content. It adds a steady graphic rhythm to the publication while remaining subtle enough to keep the focus on the work and perspectives featured throughout the issue.

Through this typographic direction, New Book No.1 gains coherence and readability. Dean Gothic acts as a visual anchor across the magazine, tying together the different sections and guiding the reader naturally. A sober and effective use of the typeface, perfectly aligned with a publication that aims to highlight the thoughts, processes, and resilience of today’s creatives.
