Italian illustrator and graphic designer Nick Öhlo designed the artwork for the kombucha bottle created for LABC, a sandwich shop and coffee house located in the heart of the Notre-Dame-du-Mont neighborhood in Marseille.
True to his 1990s pop-culture-infused style, Nick Öhlo features a character shaped like a purple fig riding a pink bicycle, carrying a basket filled with smiling elderberries.
On the typographic front, the main header “KOMBUCHA” and the net volume (33cl) showcase the custom LABC typeface, designed by Benjamin Puddu and Steven Mazzola. This ultra-bold font with organic shapes is paired with Neue Haas Grotesk by Christian Schwartz to structure the secondary information: the flavors in purple all-caps (Baie de sureau / Feuille de figuier), the list of ingredients, and the nutritional details on the back of the label.
The beverage itself is brewed locally by Zéma, a Marseille-based brand founded by Elsa Leblanc—a fermentation and cocktail specialist trained at the Combat cocktail bar in Paris. The recipe blends a base of sun-dried white and black tea with elderberries and fig leaves.
