Do Fogo ao Rio by Isabel Carvalho

Do Fogo ao Rio (“From Fire to River”) is a publication by Isabel Carvalho presenting research into the use of ash in the production of ceramic glazes. Developed at the laboratory-studio of Fundação Júlio Resende in Gondomar, Portugal, the project explores material processes and the transformation of ash through ceramic practice.

The publication was designed by Susana Carvalho and Kai Bernau of Atelier Carvalho Bernau, using OO Lyga (Outline Online) alongside their own Internal Sans. It features texts by Isabel Carvalho, Sónia Melo Moura, Joaquim Magalhães and Daniel Costa, with photography by Diogo Nogueira.

Printed in a limited edition by Gráfica Maiadouro, the project was funded by DGArtes and developed as part of the program of Associação Earthsea.
