In 1962, Spin-O-Rama Records released an easy listening album with five tracks by David Rose and the Stradivari Strings each. The cover was designed by Sam Suliman, in his characteristic style involving circles and other basic shapes, bold bright colors, and, occasionally, rare typefaces.
This time it’s Sands, a spurless sans with vertical contrast, built around an obround shape. The slightly unbalanced design with the tall x-height appears to be an early typeface by Californian phototype company Lettergraphics (est. around 1960). At least they showed it in their 1969 catalog. Sands is here used without i dots and supported by Venus Extended.
