For its recent cover featuring Grammy Award–winning artist Doechii, Cosmopolitan uses lettering based on Brush Script, originally designed by Robert E. Smith in 1942 for American Type Founders. Rather than leaning on retro nostalgia, the choice feels grounded in urban lettering seen in the wild – familiar forms reimagined as something sharp and current. Paired with Rund Display from Letters of Sweden, the design achieves a striking balance of movement and modernity. Under Editor-in-Chief Willa Bennett and Creative Director Samantha Adler, Cosmopolitan’s visual direction continues to evolve with confidence and cultural edge.
