Black Girl (La Noire de…) is a 1966 Senegalese film by Ousmane Sembène. It is based on a short story from Sembène’s 1962 collection Voltaique, which was inspired by a real incident. Black Girl stars Mbissine Thérèse Diop as Diouana, a young woman who moves from Dakar, Senegal, to Antibes, France, to work for a French couple. In France, she is subjected to hard work and humiliating objectification. This seminal masterpiece of postcolonial cinema was recently restored and finally had its Swedish premiere. The poster is designed by Malmsten Hellberg with Halyard Text by Joshua Darden and Madimi One by Taurai Valerie Mtake.
