Through its print publication and digital platform, BESIDE elevates stories, ideas, and know-how to build meaningful lives and to imagine a collective future at the crossroads of nature and culture.

Issue 17 centers on the ephemeral: the art of the moment, death, nature, and relationships that wither or transform. The fleeting nature of existence reminds us that everything – from seasons to friendships, from natural phenomena to human creations – is subject to the relentless passage of time. But what if the ephemeral could teach us something about humility, acceptance, and beauty?

This publication was founded and published by Jean-Daniel Petit, with Marie Charles Pelletier as editor-in-chief. The editorial team also includes Lee Tipton and Liette Lemay as copy editors, and Bronwyn Haslam, Julia Lemyre-Cossette, and Cristina Marziale as translators. The art direction and graphic design were created by Cécile Tousignant, with infographics by Steve Desmarais, and the publication is printed by L’Empreinte.
