“The plop plop fizz fizz is fast fast”

Two magazine ads by Miles Laboratories for Alka-Seltzer, an effervescent antacid and pain reliever first introduced in 1931. In 1979, shortly after these ads ran, Miles was acquired by Bayer after 95 years of operating as an independent firm. The extrabold sans-serif caps are from Airport Black, a weight extension that’s unique to Baltotype’s Futura copy. Photo-Lettering carried a phototype adaptation by 1960.
