A piece created for an exhibition curated by the Chicago Graphic Design Club in 2026, considering the values that shape our current moment and community.

Your values are your values. It’s a deeply personal affair.
But what do you actually have the conviction to stand behind?
The courage to stand up for? To fight for when all is on the line?
Values are easy to claim. Conviction gives them meaning.

The poster functions simultaneously as an interactive folded survey. The word “conviction” serves as the prompt, asking the viewer to self-reflect and consider what they truly believe in. As the piece is unfolded, the viewer is presented with 643 alphabetically arranged values, ranging from—without judgment—altruism to xenophobia, typeset with the clinical neutrality of a voting ballot.

The piece is a confrontational statement, challenging the viewer to consider which values direct their moral compass at a moment of intense division and debate around the globe.

SwissPosters was selected for its visual gravity and inherent sense of urgency, let alone its visual similarity to “ICE OUT” imagery seen throughout communities across the United States, themselves references to political posters and vernacular warning signs.

Nudica Mono was selected as a visual foil, elegant in its functional utility when scanning a 643-word list, without abandoning a subtle sense of beauty and refinement in its letterforms.
