The Monospace Web

When so many “typography experiments” are based around creating unreadable lettering or randomized layouts, it’s refreshing to see a very down-to-earth project like Oskar Wickström’s Monospace Web Experiment. Yearning for a simpler Internet, Wickström, a software developper from Sweden, built this demo page with a monospace grid and font. He documented the whole process in an in-depth article.

To create this grid, the developper chose the font JetBrains Mono, mainly due to its good support for box-drawing characters at greater line heights.
