Dear Future is a book by Rotterdam-based photographer Zahra Reijs. From designer Roel Nabuurs:
Zahra has been fascinated with self-expression from a young age, quoting her 2010 diary: “Dear future, will there be a point in life where you can be whoever you want to be or will people always be this judgemental?”
Zahra documented a group of highly expressive young Dutch people she met during lockdown walks in her hometown Rotterdam, a group of individuals that showed her younger self how to think and dress without caring for what others may think. The book consists of portraits, a bilingual essay on self-expression and identity, and it features some of the groups’ self portraits.
The book (hardcover, 192 pages, 30×24.5cm, Dutch/English) is set in Waldenburg Schwarz and Schwarz Kursiv, accompanied by BusMatrix Condensed.
