The book xylo sheds light on the essential role of deadwood as a habitat for numerous insect and plant species in German forests. Deadwood, which consists of dead trees, forms important ecosystems that provide food, shelter and habitat for many creatures. Despite its ecological importance, deadwood is often perceived as unsightly and disturbs the image of a “well-tended” forest.
