The Silence of Water was first published in 2011, as O Silêncio da Água. This edition was brought out by Seven Stories Press in their Triangle Square imprint. It was translated from the Portuguese by Margaret Jull Costa and illustrated by Spanish artist Yolanda Mosquera. The cover title features Garage Gothic by Frere-Jones Type.
