Rosko (aka William Roscoe Mercer) ‘raps’ over a funky version of Richard Strauss’ Also Sprach Zarathustra (the theme to ‘2001’) reminiscent of Deodato’s classic reinterpretation. His distinctive, deep baritone purrs “I’m the earth shaker, the earth quaker, codename: Peacemaker” over the horns and hammond in a cosmic monologue, “so cool, I can freeze the heart of the sun”.
The uncredited sleeve for this French pressing on the Disc’Az label features a stepped gradient from reddish-orange to yellow, with the track’s title appearing on the horizon. The text was likely set in the form of dry transfer lettering – note the uneven spacing – in two typefaces that were available from both Letraset and Mecanorma at the time: it’s Compacta (a.k.a. British Inserat) and Sans Serif Shaded.
The B-side has an instrumental track titled “Samedi Self Service”, by Prophetic Band, a French group of jazz session musicians.
