I'm always impressed by all the new ways and meanings Friz Quadrata finds itself in. Here, returning designer Neil Donnelly employs it to deliver yet another fantastic Verso cover. For the first English publication of Louis Althusser’s On the Reproduction of Capitalism the stark type only use of the face, white on black, channels energy of burgeoning punk, to massive for a single book to handle – not even the spine is left untouched.

Ideology and Ideological State Apparatuses is one of Althusser’s most famous texts, re-defining how we think about ideology. Contemporary powerhouses like Butler, Laclau and Žižek owe so much to this essential now, presented here for the first time with its original context of On the Reproduction of Capitalism.
