From onlab.ch:
This double exhibition presents the work of the Romantic painter Léopold Robert alongside the work of his brother Aurèle. The visual communication takes a contemporary approach to the brothers’ work, paying tribute to their art and highlighting their skills through a series of 15 posters that combine close-ups of paintings with a disruptive typographic layer.
This first monograph dedicated to the Robert brothers, published on the occasion of a dual exhibition in Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds, offers a new insight into the artworks of the two museum’s collections. In addition to essays by various specialists, the book offers a chronological catalogue of the artworks in a systematic order, as well as a central section combining a novel and close-ups of paintings.
The book was edited by David Lemaire and Antonia Nessi and published by the Musée d’art et d’histoire Neuchâtel and the Musée des beaux-arts La Chaux-de-Fonds through Scheidegger & Spiess, 2023.
