Klein und Haarig is a small independent music festival held in a valley of the northern Black Forest, organised on a voluntary basis by the non-profit Bunte Platte e.V. The site is set almost entirely in Protest Grotesk, which carries everything from the navigation to long-form running text like the Code of Conduct and the festival info accordions.

The layout stays deliberately quiet – a single measure of text, hairline rules, restrained display sizes – and lets the grain of the photography provide the contrast. Protest Grotesk’s slightly open, humanist curves keep the small text warm rather than clinical, which suits a festival that describes itself as “independent and off-centre.”
