Cover of Hani Shahid’s “2 ASH” (Remix)

Hani Shahid’s inaugural single, “2 ASH”, takes dystopic tone on pleasure: austere, cold synth lines flying above echoing snarls and drums with lyrical matter to that end (“you’re my box of matches setting alight the mattress”).

The most esoteric face here is a Farsi/Persian typeface called A.Ali, distorted and customized on the upper left.

Track title and the repeated black outlines saying “REMIX” are both the same weight of Neue Helvetica, extended.

The MPAA X-rating warning on the cover, is a blurry version of (Neue) Helvetica.

Both the text saying “remix” and the artist’s name are customized versions of Franklin Gothic.

The cover art takes direct inspiration from 1968 MPAA X-rating warnings which use Helvetica.
