I was shopping the second bookstore in town. I came across this book in the movie section and bought it for a few pound. The Great Movie Shorts was written by film critic Leonard Maltin and published by Bonanza Books in 1972.

I got it home and scanned in the dust cover and inside pages. On the front of the jacket, the book’s title and the author’s name are set in lowercase letters from Jay Gothic. “More than 200 nostalgic photos” is added in the Outline style of the same typeface family. Other text is set in all-caps Helvetica.

Jay Gothic Outline is also used for the heading titles of the chapters throughout the book. Margery Kronengold did the jacket design. No designer is credited for the book’s interior.

This was a rare find for me and I’m glad I have it.
