The Longest Day is the debut album by Boston-based garage rock band the Del Fuegos, released in 1984 on Slash Records. The cover typography (art direction by Jeff Price) features the band name in two lines of big white caps from Futura Extra Bold Condensed, stacked and justified and enclosed in a red field. Compared to Bitstream’s digitization of the 1954 Intertype design, this version is a little heavier and has an S with a less steep spine. The album title is added much smaller, in light Futura.
