The Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) organized the Beyond Latitude exhibition in Berlin in collaboration with Jianping He. Curated by Alex Jordan, Anette Lenz, and Toan Vu-Huu, the exhibition showcases the dynamic world of contemporary graphic design and the creative minds shaping today's visual language.
Designed by Jianping He, this book offers a summary of the exhibition. It features the works and members of AGI France. BVH Eddi, from BVH Type, is the only typeface family used in this book, except for the AGI logo. Its excellent legibility in small type sizes allows it to fit into this compact format.
From Center for Visual Arts Berlin (CVAB):
Experimental book. A complete collection of the works of all the designers of AGI France.
As book publisher + designer Jumping He puts it:
At its essence, graphic design is not about technology, but about human creativity. France’s greatest contribution to global graphic design lies in its approach to nurturing creative ideas through the lens of art. Art, by its nature, is diverse and enriched by generations, embodying a freedom that even the most powerful political forces cannot contain.
In addition to the ‘super mini size’ (105×150mm, 1136 pages), the red, blue and white colourful paper strip package is like unwrapping a surprise package of French impressions, and after flipping the paper strip again, it's like strolling through a small design exhibition.
Sharp cuts and just-touching intersections in the counterforms give the typeface its unique and recognizable character.
