Luke Bird designed the postcard cover for Aneesa Abbas Higgins’s English translation of Elisa Shua Dusapin’s novel Winter in Sokcho, with a surprising vertically-rotated format. Sokcho is a South Korean coastal city accented with pink architecture and gaudy neon lights, as the vibrant outlined setting of Cortado recalls. “Sokcho” is emphatically set in Barlow with an outline and drop shadow added. The Korean word “novel” is set in Sandoll GothicNeo with a shadow falling in the opposing direction. Monotype Grotesque is used for the blurb. The book was published by Open Letter.
