From the foreword (translated):

The magazine represents the democratic medium par excellence through which to spread new proposals for the emerging new society. Through the pages of the countless publications that came out in Italy between the 1950s and the 1970s, it is possible to see a total commitment on the part of artists, publishers, and intellectuals in general, so that the now obsolete dogmas of a past society would be questioned and revised, modified, and overturned.

This collection of journals presented in Ultravanguardia 1958–1977 is intended to serve as a container, attempting to recount the stories and intentions of 26 of the many Neo-avant-garde magazines founded in Italy between 1958 and 1977, creating a narrative that can establish common paths starting from a chronological order.
