Designer Matt Broughton has given a retro vibe to the recent Vintage Books reissue of the first novel by British author Martin Amis (1949–2023). The novel debuted in 1973; Broughton has used Colin Brignall’s loopy goopy Tango type of 1974, which has been redrawn and colored to make it look hand-done. (The novel is a series of fictional notes by a teenaged British student, about his obsession with a girl named Rachel.)

See also the post about the first U.S. edition, which was published by Knopf in 1974 and used Ray Cruz’s Cruz Swinger type.
