Texas Monthly’s 2021 edition of “The 50 Best BBQ Joints” features delectable food photography, not to mention some equally tasty type combinations utilizing fonts from OH no Type Co. (Beastly and Coniferous), Hoefler & Co (Chronicle and Ringside), and Pangram Pangram (Right Grotesk).

Design credits for this edition go to Emily Kimbro and Victoria Millner. Art production by Darice Chavira. Illustrations by Marianna Fierro. Photo editing by Claire Hogan and Kayla Miracle.

Detail: Coniferous is used for the restaurant locations. The joint’s name uses Beastly 12 Point – the smallest of Beastly’s nine optical sizes, originally intended to set quite small type.
