Pauline Julier’s (*1981, Geneva) multimedia works take us through the geological ages of the earth and into space. At the interface between documentary and fiction, the artist takes us on a dizzying journey through space and time. In doing so, she interweaves different stories and mixes natural disasters with the paradigm shifts of the Anthropocene.

Designed by Julia Born, winner of the Swiss Grand Prix of Design in 2021, and conceived as a work of art in its own right, the publication offers a comprehensive insight into Pauline Julier's artistic thinking and work through interviews, essays and numerous illustrations. In conversation with biologist and science theorist Donna Haraway and author and anthropologist Nastassja Martin, the book addresses the mutual affinity between art and science, the relationship between humans and other living beings and the constructed nature of images. The publication was supported by the Sophie and Karl Binding Foundation. It is part of the Binding Sélection d’Artistes funding program.

The bilingual book (German and English) has 204 pages measuring 26×18.5 cm. It was edited by Céline Eidenbenz with Sarah Mühlebach and includes contributions by Céline Eidenbenz, Donna Haraway, Nastassja Martin, and Chus Martínez. It was published by Scheidegger & Spiess, Zürich, on the occasion of Julier’s exhibition A Single Universe at Aargauer Kunsthaus from June 8 to October 27, 2024.

And so on, a single universe uses Neureal in upright and Italic styles throughout. The italic was specifically designed for this application. It also features Neureal Mono, likewise designed by Laura Csocsán.
