The Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig (MdbK), also known as the “Bildermuseum”, is an art museum in Leipzig. It was founded in 1848 on the initiative of the citizens and has been housed in a modern new building in Katharinenstraße since 2004. With over 10,000 m² of exhibition space, the MdbK is one of the largest art museums in Germany and is run by the city of Leipzig.

The typography of the MdbK website is clear and structured so that the works of art take center stage. Important information is highlighted typographically to make it easy to find your way around. The design concept comes from the Viennese agency Studio Es. Their 2017 rebrand focuses on a reduced, easy-to-read typeface that combines aesthetics and functionality.

The museum's logo uses Acumin, a sans serif known for its neutrality and versatility. The letters are geometric and functional, with clear lines and a balanced design language. The high legibility and minimalist appearance make the logo timeless and internationally understandable. Acumin was designed by Robert Slimbach in 2015 and underlines the museum's clear, modern identity.

Acumin Condensed is used on the website for subheadings, the menu bar/sidebar and numerals. Its narrow design ensures a space-saving and structured presentation, while the geometric and clean lines support a modern, professional appearance. Acumin’s regular-wide styles are used in information texts and captions.

Magneta is used for headlines in the categories. It is a serif font that is used exclusively in uppercase letters. With its modern, timeless design, it creates clear, striking headlines that stand out from the rest of the text. It was designed by Neil Summerour and is only visible on the desktop version of the website.

Digital features of the website include the ability to switch the language from German to English. There is also a dark mode (black mode) and the option to change the font size.
