The photos shown here date from August 2021. Street signs in this design were first installed in 2005. An article in Le Temps quotes Christophe Jobin-Viret, head of Lausanne’s Office de Signétique Urbaine (translated):
Since 2005, the capital of Vaud has been modernizing its signage. Out of a total of 4,000 signs, between 30 and 50 are replaced each year, as damage and nocturnal disappearances occur. No more royal blue! The new signs are lighter in color and reflective. “The design was inspired by the city’s logo, created in 1999 by graphic designers Flavia and Laurent Cocchi. Our office has designed the new models in line with this graphic identity, for example by using the Serifa typeface.”
