L’espace est un doute is a micro-edition showcasing the work of French photographer Jules Hidrot. In this series, the artist reclaims the city through fragmented images and plays with the loss of visual references. By doing so, he creates new spaces where doubt becomes a central element of the work. Traveling from the north to the south of France, this book offers a dual reading experience, allowing us to discover and rediscover our cities from different angles, providing a fresh perspective on an environment that is both familiar and intriguing.
The graphic design and layout of L’espace est un doute were handled by Sarah Fattouh, who translated Hidrot’s universe into a clean yet impactful design. The Neue Tarasque typeface by Blaze Type reinforces the sense of fragmentation and doubt present in the photographs, subtly adding a typographic dimension to the overall work. The printing was done by Tomoe, while the binding was expertly executed by Cléo Lebrun, giving the book a refined finish.
This collaboration between Hidrot and Fattouh results in a publication that goes beyond the traditional photography book. L’espace est un doute is not just a photography collection, but a true object of reflection that invites us to rethink our perception of urban spaces. Through its unique reading experience, each page of the book offers a dynamic exploration of cities, turning every photograph into a new avenue of thought about our relationship with our everyday environment.
