Edoardo Bonacina’s Kleine Häuser is a photographic project with pre-archaeological qualities that examines a phenomenon of vernacular architecture widely present in Germany: the Kleingärten.

Offering a critical reflection on contemporary living, in contrast to the standardization and consumerism of Western urban environments, these microcosms represent a sustainable and participatory model, integrating nature, community, and identity.

Through an ethical and conscious lens, the project highlights how these spaces provide a tangible alternative to the precariousness of a late-capitalist residential model, proposing dwelling as a critical act, an expression of care and regeneration, and, above all, a testament to a more responsible future.
